The Kids

Tuesday Kids

Jermiah Jones 12yo Bookworm (Keith)

Birthday: 28 Feb, 1973

Problem: bullies like to knock my books out of my hands, especially if mud is around.

Pride: know a lot of obscure facts

Jermiah loves reading Encyclopedia Brown books. Wants to be called JJ.

Family: Mom stays at home while dad works at the Loop. I have 2 older brothers.

Pets: none.

Song: Weird Al- “Dare to be Stupid”

Pete Gordon, 13yo Hick (Tony)

Birthday: June 7, 1972

Problem: Gets into fights standing up for other bullied kids.
Pride: I feel I can convince others to follow my ideas.

Pete has an athletic build, brown hair, and charming smile. He is nice to everyone and well liked around school. Doesn’t like bullies and keeps ‘collecting’ bullied friends whom he fights for. He tends to take a lead role in most social circles but doesn’t mind stepping back to let his friends flourish when they have good (or bad) ideas.

Family: Mom stays at home while dad works for the government (not sure what he does). I have a little brother (8yo Tommy) and a little sister on the way.

Pets: Golden Retriever (Maximus), example that pets take on their owner’s traits.

Song: Ray Parker Jr- “Ghostbusters”

Alpharius Michaels 13yo Computer Geek (Matt)

Birthday:

Problem: Everyone is against me.

Pride: His hacking skills.

Alphie spends his nights hacking and developing his AI girlfriend, Lisa.

Family: Parents work all the time at the Loop.

Pets: dog Baxter.

Song: Ramones- “I Wanna Be Sedated”

Bocephus Cletus Riggins, 14yo Hick (Geoff)

Birthday: Oct 12, 1971

Problem: brother was injured by livestock due to his mistake.

Pride: always helps others in need.

BC because he’s SO old! Big, Brown Hair Mullet, blue eyes, farmer tan, wrangler pants, Prl-Snap Shirt, Cowboy Boots, Rodeo Buckle, Leatherman tool on belt. Home schooled until recently, then held back due to farm labor. Now made fun of at school.

Family: both parents are struggling ranchers. 4 brothers & 4 sisters. My brother Jasper got trampled by livestock due to being distracted – he is physically disabled now.

Pets: farm animals, no indoor pets.

Song: Alabama – “Can't keep a good man down”

NPC-OTHER KIDS

The Sanders Twins, 14yo

Erica and Ben Sanders are 14-year-old twins. They moved here from California, with the newest style and newest electronics. Their mom is a researcher at the Loop and dad is a doctor. Erica is insufferably smart and loves to lord that over the rest of the geeks at school, showing off her brand-new Compaq Deskpro 386 whenever possible. A total teacher's pet that claims Boulder City lacks the intellectual stimulation that San Francisco offered. Ben is more on the jock side, star athlete in basketball and baseball, sporting the latest fashions in school (Ray Bans and a Members Only Jacket whenever possible). He has charmed most of the teachers at school. Both he and Erica are very deceptive bullies, able to cut down a kid with a nasty remark and play completely innocent to any adult that is brought into the fight.

Lucy Ackers, 14yo

Lucy is a 14-year-old. She recently moved in a few weeks after school started. She's awkward, pushy, more than a little weird, and pretty annoying. She's yet to find her place in school, and hovers at the edge of every group, looking for a chance to jump into the conversation, only to often say something completely strange or inappropriate to the conversation. No one knows much about her home life, but the rumor is that she moved in with her Grandmother after issues at home.

Charlie Bradford, 12yo

Charlie’s family moved to town this summer from Denver. It was blonde hair before he colored it “to be cool.” Matches the plaid clothing he likes to wear. Kind of small for his age, with a sweet face. He is really smart and likable, and good at both sports and school. Both his parents work at the Loop; so, you probably met him at the summer Loop picnic where the workers gathered to say goodbye to departing co-workers while welcoming the new arrivals.

Charlie has allergies and auto-immune issues that keep him from attending sleepovers. Maybe once he settles in, his parents will offer sleepovers at his house where they can monitor his health. Meanwhile, he talks about his pet parakeet Country Boy. He’s trying to get him to whistle to the tune of his favorite song Sunshine On My Shoulders (by John Denver).

Bullies (Randy, Joey, Darrel)

Notable school bullies are Randy (classic jock butthead) and his two lackies:

1.       Randy has a driver's license from Idaho (where his uncle lives) where the required age for a license is younger (14).

2.       Joey (skinny, gangly, with a ratface; a total yes man to Randy). Flash likes to refer to him as “Skinny Norris” per his favorite book series (AH’s The Three Investigators).

3.       Darrel (held back twice in school, massive kid, football player). JJ refers to Darrel as “Bugs Meany” in reference to his favorite book series (Encyclopedia Brown).

Stacey Dixon, 13yo

You met Stacey during those “Dog Days of Summer”, hiding out in her uncle Donald’s abandoned house. Stacey is a tanned and wiry 13 yo with blonde hair full of hairspray. She wears colorful sunglasses and a Minnie Mouse shirt while she chews gum. She is a sassy spitball of resistance and recently began to smoke: ignore her occasional coughing fits.

Now that she officially lives with her uncle, along with her dachshund Ham, Stacey enrolled at Mitchell Middle School where the rest of you attend.
